We are delighted to introduce to the Pink Jinn Souq two new products: The DAMASCUS and PALMYRA crochet clutch bags. These beauties were made by a women’s cooperative in Syria which provides employment to women who have lost their livelihoods as a result of the conflict.

These beautifully handcrafted crochet clutch bags feature a zigzag design with a gold zipper and tassel. They’re the perfect size for a clutch bag or purse, although they would also make a stunning makeup bag or a pretty little pouch for an iPad Mini or similar sized tablet.
Textile products are a significant part of the cultural heritage of Syria and the wider region of the Balad al-Sham (the Levant), from the intricate, tatreez embroidery famous in Palestine to the woven rugs and carpets that have long graced the souqs of Damascus. The designs reflect the asymmetric patterns of traditional Middle Eastern textile products and some Middle Eastern art.
At Pink Jinn, we believe in social impact and the power using business to drive positive change. These clutches are fair trade and were made by women in a conflict zone. Each one takes three days to make after three months of training, and every sale directly contributes to providing an income for a Syrian woman who lost her livelihood to the war. Your purchase allows for the generation of continuous income for these women, helping them to sustain themselves and their families.
We also donate a third of the profits from these clutches to the Hands Up Foundation. They provide education for refugee children in the Bekaa Valley, salaries for health workers at a clinic in rural Aleppo, and prosthetic limbs to amputees on the Syrian-Turkish border. They’re also currently providing emergency response to support some of the world’s most vulnerable affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
So by buying a beautiful clutch, you’re not only supporting the Syrian woman who made it, but also contributing directly to supporting other victims of conflict and refugees. ✨
